Sherwood Shores is a small, lakeside community that historically
has been comprised primarily of retirees and elderly residents, along with many property owners who visit on weekends or holidays
throughout the summer. However, in recent years, the community has welcomed many families of all ages.
Although the Fire Department was originally formed by Sherwood
Shores residents in 1975, the fire district has grown significantly since its inception, now encompassing 43 square miles
of fire and emergency medical service (EMS) first responder district.
The Department serves an estimated population of 3000.
Of course, the population increases substantially during the spring, summer, and fall months with campers, boaters, and those
with lake property enjoying beautiful Lake Texoma.
